Will Mirio Togata or Bakugo Katsuki Inherit Deku’s Powers? Exploring the Future of One For All
Will Mirio Togata or Bakugo Katsuki Inherit Deku’s Powers?
In the world of My Hero Academia, the most sought-after quirk is undoubtedly One For All, the power that grants its user incredible abilities and potential to become the greatest hero the world has ever seen. Currently, this powerful quirk is held by Izuku Midoriya, also known as Deku. But as the series progresses, the question arises: who will eventually inherit One For All?
Bakugo Katsuki technically inherited One For All during the final fight scene against the villain Nine in the My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising movie. However, for an unknown reason, the transfer did not complete, and One For All reverted to Deku. The myheroacademia fandom community speculates that Bakugo lost consciousness during the transfer, leading to the failure. Despite this, it is highly unlikely Bakugo would accept One For All again due to his strong belief in his own supremacy. He would likely refuse to become the hero, maintaining his belief that he is already the strongest.
The myheroacademia universe remains centered around the anime and manga canon, and canon-wise, there are very few indications that Bakugo or Mirio Togata will inherit One For All.
Canon-wise Future of One For All
The current status of One For All leans towards the possibility that it will not be inherited by either Bakugo or Mirio. While Mirio turned down One For All on principle during his hospital stay, his refusal stems from a strong moral stance rather than the desire for power. On the other hand, Bakugo's pride and self-perception as the strongest hero make him an unlikely candidate for this power.
Should One For All be passed down in the future, it is more likely to be to a far younger hero, given the lineage and development shown in the series.
Sir Nighteye's Valediction and Mirio Togata
One of the only arguments that could suggest Mirio would inherit One For All comes from the dying words of Sir Nighteye. Sir Nighteye, a former All-for-One user, had high hopes for Mirio, telling him that he would become the finest hero the world has ever seen. Some speculate that Sir Nighteye’s dying words hint at Mirio receiving One For All through the Permeation Quirk. This theory suggests that Mirio’s unbreakable nature would allow him to inherit and amplify the power beyond Izuku’s original capacity, making him virtually untouchable. However, this remains a speculative idea, as there is no explicit mention in the series.
Speculative Ways for One For All to Be Passed Down
There are some other theories about how One For All could be passed down without Izuku explicitly giving it away. For instance, if characters like Neito Monoma or Tamaka Amajiki could temporarily copy One For All and then pass down a modified version of it. Additionally, there’s the possibility of Himiko Toga inheriting and copying the power, as her Quirk, Awakening, has certainly demonstrated the ability to copy quirks. In these scenarios, while the copies might be weaker due to not inheriting the full strength and stockpiled power of Izuku’s One For All, they could still strengthen over time, creating multiple lines of heroes with unique power sets.
The future of One For All and who might inherit it is an open-ended question that invites the fan base to speculate and discuss. For now, the world of My Hero Academia remains a dynamic and ever-evolving universe, with countless possibilities for heroism and power.
