Revisiting Disney Characters I Admire

Have you ever had a character from a Disney movie that stuck with you and caught your heart? Whether it's for their charm, their good deeds, or their personal growth, the characters in Disney movies have a way of

Prince Naveen: The Reluctant Transformation

Prince Naveen, from The Princess and the Frog, is one of the new additions to my list. He starts off as a brat who has never had to work for anything, and thus is lazy, spoiled, and selfish. Unfortunately, he's also been denied the love of his parents, who either neglected him or weren't around. This lack of guidance led him to become almost empty. However, music was a guiding light for him, and this passion has led him to pursue the appreciation of women, a reflection of his need for love. His character grows as he meets Tiana, a strong and independent character who helps him become more grounded and less selfish.

Prince Naveen is not a perfect character. He's insecure and uses a false confidence as a defense mechanism. But what I admire about him is that he wants to improve and help Tiana. His willingness to change and grow is both simp worthy and realistic. This is a trait I admire in myself as well, as I've undergone significant personal changes over the last few years, realizing that personal growth is essential for both myself and others.

Flynn Rider: The Thief with a Heart of Gold

Flynn Rider from Tangled is one of the most crush-worthy characters, and for good reason. He starts out as a thief who just wants to earn a living, and though his profession isn't the best, he's not actually a bad person inside. His upbringing in an orphanage and neglect by society pushed him towards a life of theft. However, his soft spot for Rapunzel is endearing. Even though he's initially irritated by her, he truly enjoys spending time with her and finds himself falling for her kind and innocent nature. Flynn is willing to put his life on the line for her, which is incredible.

Li Shang: The Patriotic Warrior

Li Shang, from Mulan, is another character I admire for his personal growth. He initially struggles with the expectations placed on him as the heir to his father's position as General but learns to persevere through these pressures. He also eventually embraces Mulan's lesson that gender doesn't define one's worth or ability. Li Shang is a sexist character at first, with an exaggerated sense of masculinity, but he is proven wrong by Mulan, who demonstrates that women can be just as worthy of being soldiers as men. His journey towards emotional openness and understanding the balance between emotion and logic is crucial, especially in matters of the heart.

Li Shang, in particular, has a strong physical appearance, and this is not lost on me. His muscles and fight scenes are a testament to his strength, but he's also a softie at heart, which makes him cute. Moreover, his respect for elders, such as Mulan's grandmother approving of him, adds another layer of charm to his character.

Conclusion: The Admiration for Growth

The main thing that draws me to these wonderful characters is their ability to grow and change. Their personal journeys are inspiring, and it's this growth that makes them simp-worthy. It's not about being perfect, but about recognizing the value in these characters for their efforts to improve and become better people. This is something I have personally embraced in my life, understanding that change is essential for both self-improvement and supporting others. It's the 'take a while for your memory to come back to you' feeling when you realize just how much has changed, and how much growth is possible within us all.

Through these characters, I find a reflection of myself and my own journey towards becoming a better version of myself. If you relate to this, don't hesitate to share your favorite Disney characters and the specific aspects that make them endearing to you.
