My Favorite Dragon Pokémon from the Alola Region: Noivern and Beyond
My Favorite Dragon Pokémon from the Alola Region: Noivern and Beyond
The Alola region is home to some of the most unique and intriguing Pokémon, and among them, there are several dragons that stand out for their unique designs and abilities. In this article, we'll explore a list of these dragons and ultimately arrive at our favorite choice, Noivern, from the Alola region.
Dragons of the Alola Region
The Alola region introduced several new and exciting types of Pokémon, but when it comes to dragons, there's no shortage of interesting options:
Jangmo-o - The baby form of Charmander, starters are not usually strong contenders for dragon Pokémon. Hakamo-o - Similar to Jangmo-o, this Pokémon represents the early stage of an evolution chain and is not directly associated with dragons. Kommo-o - The baby form of Charizard, again a starter Pokémon, lacks distinctive dragon features. Alolan Exeggutor - Though this plant-like Pokémon has some dragon-like characteristics, it's not a true dragon. Turtonator - This Pokémon has a more dragon-like appearance but lacks the mystery and allure that Noivern brings to the table. Drampa - While this Pokémon is indeed a dragon, it doesn't seem to have the design elements that make it stand out as the most favorite in the Alola region. Guzzlord - This Pokémon is too focused on the "powerhouse" aspect, which doesn't align with the classic dragon imagery. Ultra Necrozma - While this Pokémon has a striking design, it doesn't fit the traditional dragon archetype as well as Noivern does. Naganadel - This Pokémon is a bit overrated due to its impressive design, but it lacks the speed and flying capabilities that make Noivern stand out.Why Noivern Is My Favorite
Coming from a list of impressive Pokémon, Noivern stands out as my favorite for several reasons:
1. Strength and Speed
Noivern is known for its dual flying and dragon types, giving it a combined attack that can be quite formidable. It's also incredibly fast and agile, making it a versatile Pokémon in battles and in various gameplay scenarios.
2. Unique Design
The design of Noivern is both menacing and elegant. It has a sleek, aerodynamic profile that makes it look like a majestic creature flying through the skies of Alola. The dragon-like elements in its design are perfectly balanced with the sleek, bird-like features, which makes it one of the most visually appealing Pokémon in the region.
3. Personal Bias
While I do have some personal biases, they are justified by the qualities mentioned above. Many people associate dragon Pokémon with ferocity and power, and Noivern embodies these qualities in a distinctive way.
Other Candidates and Personal Choices
Let's look at why some of the other candidates didn't make the cut:
Dragalge
Dragalge is a part-dragon, part-lizard Pokémon. While it has a menacing appearance, its slimy and reptilian traits make it less appealing to many fans.
Tyrantus
Tyrantus, also known as Tyrunt, looks a bit closer to the Alolan Exeggutor in terms of design, lacking the unique flair that makes it stand out as a dragon Pokémon.
Goodra
Goodra, a plant-dragon hybrid, is adorable but has some slimy, plant-like features that detract from its dragon aesthetic.
Zygarde
Zygarde 10%?- Though it has an imposing presence, it's not a true dragon and more closely resembles a dinosaur. Zygarde 50%?- This form is too focused on its plateau-like appearance, which doesn't align with traditional dragon designs. Zygarde 100%?- While it is a fully evolved form, it has more of a "mech-dragon" look, which doesn't fit the classic dragon archetype. Conclusion
After careful consideration of the Alolan dragons, Noivern emerges as the clear favorite. Its balance of strength, speed, and unique design makes it a standout Pokémon in the region. While there are many impressive dragon Pokémon, Noivern's special combination of traits sets it apart and makes it the best choice for me.
