Fourth Wall Break: Casting Suggestions for a Post-Arbiter Terminator Remake

The much-anticipated Terminator franchise might finally be seeing its end with the release of Dark Fate. Many fans, including myself, feel the film has closed the door on future Terminator movies. While the series has been a cornerstone of action films, the inevitability of a remake could spark some fresh creativity and excitement among fans.

The Perfect Terminator: A Big, Bad Beast

After considering various candidates to play the role of the Terminator, I imagine a completely unknown European man with pale skin, dark brown hair, and a wide jaw. Ideally, he would be as big or bigger than Arnold Schwarzenegger, with a deep, authoritative voice. However, he should have few lines to avoid overshadowing the story. We need a Terminator that's imposing without being overly obvious, a huge change from the previous skinny characters like Robert Patrick, Kristanna Loken, Sam Worthington, or Gabriel Luna.

Alternative Approaches: Little and Subtle

While a giant Terminator is the traditional image, perhaps the franchise should try something different. Wouldn't it be interesting to have a smaller, less conspicuous Terminator? Perhaps we could cast someone like Millie Bobby Brown, famous for her intense and scary performances. Millie has the potential to make an unexpected threat, blending subtlety with intensity.

Proven Action Stars: New Blood for New Stories

As for the protagonist Laura "Reese" Palmer, a new and different actor could bring fresh energy to the role. Let's consider someone grittier and more grounded, like Tom Hardy. While he might be too large, a talented actress like Charlize Theron could breathe a new life into the character. For Sarah Connor, we might appreciate someone like Ben Wishaw who could convincingly portray a man in need of rescue, adding a fresh twist to the John Connor origin story.

A New Timeline: Rethinking the Future

While a Terminator remake wouldn't necessarily be a home run, it could certainly offer an interesting narrative. Let's consider a new approach to the franchise's story. In a hypothetical alternate timeline, the original T-800 shows up and successfully kills Susan Connor, making her a prime candidate for a new mother. Winston, sent back to protect the Connor parents, instead witnesses this tragedy, leading him to knock up Kylie (Reese) when she returns from her mission. This scenario ripples through time, with John Connor growing up with a military background from an unexpected parent.

While the plot twists and timelines might be as convoluted as anything Dark Fate has offered, it's the kind of wild, imaginative storyline that fans of the series could appreciate. It's the kind of plot with so many holes that it doesn't even matter. It would, however, require some creative storytelling to navigate the complex timeline and the character's emotional journey.

In conclusion, while the Terminator franchise may be reaching its end, the potential for new ideas and fresh perspectives is promising. While a remake might not be better, it can certainly be creative and fun. The key is to embrace new ideas, new actors, and new ways of telling the story of the Terminator.
