Exploring the Rarest and Most Valuable Funko Pop Figures in My Collection
As of the current date, my Funko Pop collection contains a variety of characters, with some being quite valuable and rarer than others. My personal experience working in a company that produces similar figures for NBC gives me a unique perspective on these collectibles. Here, I will explore the rarest and most valuable Funko Pop figures in my collection, and discuss some of my personal favorites.
The Rarest Funko Pop Figures
Among the rarest Funko Pop figures in my collection are the vaulted versions of characters from the original Simpsons and Wizard of Oz lines, as well as the Beatles line and the first Rocky film series. While I haven't done extensive research on the production count of these characters, their rarity is a testament to their limited production runs and the fan enthusiasm surrounding them.
The Most Valuable Funko Pop Figures in My Collection
My most valuable Funko Pop figure is still Bart Simpson, valued at $680, though this price is for a figure in its original box. I don't personally own a boxed version, but I suspect that if I were to sell it, it could fetch a significant sum, possibly even up to $200 more. Other valuable figures in my collection include:
A Wizard of Oz figure (Dorothy and Toto) worth $220 for a boxed version. Unboxed, these figures are still quite valuable. A Disney Park Exclusive Indiana Jones figure, valued at over $400. Despite not owning it in its current high value state, I love this character very much. Lotso from Toy Story 3, currently valued at over $600, though I don't own it in this price range. For collectors who focus on value, my most valuable Pop figure is an Indiana Jones figure with the Stone of Cold. Although it is valued at around $400, this figure holds a special place in my heart and is one of the most valuable collectors’ items I own.
Buying and Collecting Funko Pops
Contrary to some collectors, I do not buy Funko Pops primarily for their value. My motivation for collecting these figures is rooted in nostalgia, as I grew up with the characters and am drawn to their charm and memorabilia. However, the financial value of my most valuable Funko Pop figures has not gone unnoticed. The Bart Simpson figure, for instance, represents a significant investment, both in terms of its original price and its potential resale value.
Current Valuation
As of January 1, 2024, according to the Pop Price Guide, the Bart Simpson figure in its original box is valued at $680. My still-boxed figure, however, is not at this level, but if I were to sell it, it could fetch a nice sum, possibly in the range of $200 to $250. Other valuable figures in my collection, including Dorothy and Toto, and Lotso from Toy Story 3, continue to hold substantial value, reflecting the intense popularity and market demand for these particular characters.
