An In-Depth Analysis of All Black Clover Openings: My Top Picks and Why

When it comes to ranking the opening animations of All Black Clover, my third opening holds a special place in my heart. While everyone has their own preferences, I've laid out my reasons below and included a video at the end that might shed some light on the matter.

Why I Love Opening 3

Although I consider all the openings to be great, none of them would rank a perfect 10, as personal biases inevitably play a role. However, Opening 3 (Earth Magic Voice) holds a special position. The catchy English dub adds depth and makes it more relatable. Given my lack of proficiency in Japanese, the subtitles can feel foreign, but the English dub works better for me in terms of relevance. The transitions and animations are equally impressive, and the scenes chosen are well-crafted. It's true that this opening occasionally spoils some of the later versions, but those moments are effectively incorporated.

My Top Picks for the First Place Ranking

Opening 7 is my favorite. It's catchy, and the English dub offers a deeper level of engagement. Although I am not fluent in Japanese, the subtitles can be confusing at times, but the dub makes it more relatable. The transitions and animations, along with the carefully selected scenes, contribute to its overall quality. Despite potential spoilers, the timing and execution complement the story well. My admiration for this opening, however, is somewhat biased, as it highlights William more than any other opening, which happens to be my favorite Black Clover character.

Honorable Mentions for Second Place

Opening 9 and Opening 10 both deserve a second place ranking in my opinion. Opening 9 features stunning animation of the elves, and the focus on them is very relevant. The most chilling scene is Licht holding a lifeless Tetia in his arms, portraying a betrayed and hate-filled look covered in blood. The music, though not the best, is still decent and evokes powerful emotions.

Opening 10 has excellent music and a great choice of colors across all versions. However, it can become annoying due to the constant praise it receives, which is why it didn't reach the top spot.

Third Place Contenders

Opening 8, 6, and 4 would rank third for me. Opening 8 has cute scenes, though the overall animation feels less relevant to that period in the anime. The music is beautiful, and the scenes showcasing characters' magic attributes are fantastic. Opening 6 features a sick guitar riff and excellent landscape animations that reveal characters' personalities and powers. The music is not the best, but the standout moment works well with the animation. Opening 4 has catchy music, and the scenes showing characters' magic attributes are particularly captivating.

Fourth Place Openings

Openings 5 and 11 would rank fourth for me. Opening 11 has good music, but not great, and features scenes with de-aged Julius and a remorseful William. The scenes, while well-done, are not overly impactful. Opening 5 is enjoyable because it shows Langris, Yuno, and William in a relevant way without spoiling the anime until the later version. The overlays and Yami's rivalry hinting are well-executed.

Fifth Place Openings

Openings 1, 2, and 3 are all fifth place. These openings are good enough to hype you up for the anime, with unique strengths despite being less distinctive in terms of music and editing. They receive a B-grade for their overall quality. While they introduce the world effectively, they pale in comparison to the later openings.

Conclusion

This ranking is based on my personal preferences and experiences. My opinions are subject to change as my perspective may evolve with more exposure to the series. I hope this analysis provides some insights into the opennings of All Black Clover and might help others in their own viewing experiences.
